Does The Lint Lizard Work? | What You Need To Know

If using the Lint Lizard will make my clothes dryer last longer, be safer and dry my clothes 15 minutes faster I want the Lint Lizard to work. But the question is, “Does the Lint Lizard really work?” What you read might just shock you.

I have seen and tried several different ways to clean the lint out of the dryer lint trap. One thing I remember from my mother about doing laundry was to always clean out the lint basket before each load of clothes. My mother knew a lot more about domestic things than I ever learned from her. But this one stuck.

My mother was always doing her best to squeeze every penny out of everything. As I remember it the whole time I grew up we never replaced our clothes washer or dryer. I think the reason she was so adamant about cleaning out the lint was because she knew lint clogging up the dryers air vent would over heat the motor and cause it to burn out faster.

It also could have been her concern about the clothes dryer catching on fire. It makes total sense to me that there would be a fire hazard with all that cotton and synthetic fabric fiber lint clogging up the dryer making the motor hotter or even spilling over into the heating element of the dryer. That is a scary thought. Come to think of it my father was a Boy Scout Master and I remember him grabbing a handful of dryer lint before going on camp outs to use as fire starter. He said it would catch on fire faster than anything else he knew of. If that is true then I sure don’t want lint building up in my clothes dryer.

With as flammable as dryer lint is it is probably why every few months I would see my father down on his knees or laying on his back reaching in, around and under my mothers clothes dryer with a coat hanger bent up like a hook trying to snag every last piece of lint. My folks did their best to make their money stretch and keeping their expensive appliances safe and in good working condition was one of the ways they did that. That is one important lesson I learned and try to do myself. That is why I think cleaning out the lint in the dryer vent or lint basket is so important. Just how to do it was a hassle until the Lint Lizard came around.

From my own experience and watching my father I know the best way to remove lint is not with a bent up coat hanger. I think we both inhaled more lint than we ever collected. Instead of neatly gathering all the lint together the hanger seemed to make little balls of lint. The more we pushed and pulled trying to drag the lint out from under or from inside the dryer the more little lint balls we made and the bigger the lint cloud got.
